New Amnesty International and International Crisis Group reports

The Amnesty International Report 2011 for Madagascar came out on 13 May. It covers the year 2010. It can be found at:

The Amnesty International Report is in broad agreement with the recent Human Rights Report of the US State Department but has additional information. In particular, the Amnesty International report states that the trial of President Ravalomanana and others for the shootings in front of Ambohitsorohitra palace on 7 February 2009 “did not meet international standards of fairness”.

La résolution adoptée par le Parlement Européen en Février 2010 est très claire en ce qui concerne toutes les actions unilatérales prises par Andry Rajoelina qui veut passer outre aux accords de partage de pouvoir. Cette résolution vient d'être consignée dans le journal officiel de l'Union Européenne en Décembre 2010. La HAT peut toujours ainsi continuer à manipuler le processus de résolution de la crise pour convaicnre la communauté internationale!
Observations about the mediator's report

The main thrust of the report is about creating legitimacy for the Malgacho-Malgache formation and about discrediting the three mouvances. In this regard it should be noted that the three mouvances are severely criticized in the report, while the parties associated with the former Mouvance Rajoelina and the Rajoelina regime (HAT) are not assessed at all and their role in the political crisis is not discussed. This point should be considered in view of the fact that the international community still views Madagascar as engrossed in a political crisis. A recently-released report on the state of human rights in Madagascar by the US State Department presents a critical situation. The Mediator’s Report does not present any of these concerns but picture the mouvances as the scapegoats of any of the problems. Such an unbalanced approach problematises the Report’s credibility.

Ce lundi 18 avril 2011 à 15h30, une délégation mandatée par les Trois Mouvances, composée de Messieurs Henri Roger RANAIVOSON, Olivier ANDRIANARISOA et Brian CURRIN, a été reçue en son Palais par S.E.M Hifikepunye POHAMBA, Président de la République de Namibie et Président en exercice de la SADC dans le cadre de la poursuite des négociations de sortie de crise telle qu'elle a été décidée par la Troïka de la SADC le 31 mars 2011.
